James is a 14 year old boy with a very big heart. Diagnosed several years ago with an inoperable brain tumour, James was given a wish to have anything of his choosing. And so on his 10th Birthday James invited to a party everyone who had cared for him throughout the course of his illness. It was James desire that all who came to his party were to be given a gift in gratitude of their love and support. Over 200 people attended James 10th Birthday party. To this day, James is the only child who has given his Starlight wish away.
 
In 2005, while undergoing chemotherapy, James lost most of his eyesight and his ability to walk was severely affected. Throughout his time in hospital it was James’ constant wish to raise money for the work of the Starlight Children's Foundation and in early 2006 the idea of a variety concert was born. After the usual creative brainstorming we came up with the title “Beneath the Stars” – Songs of Hope and Joy. It will be held on the Brisbane River Stage in the Botanical Gardens so families can bring their children and sit on the grass and have a great night out – Beneath the Stars.
